- Successful West End Wonders Prom Concert

On Saturday 4th July we played a selection of West End hits as part of our annual Proms Concert in collaboration with the Pheonix Theatre and The Shed in Bordon. Everything from Harry Potter to The Sound of Music, Phantom of the Opera to Titanic and ended with the traditional Proms repertoire with audience participation.
The orchestra was led by David Budd and welcomed two soloists Louisa Hunter-Bradley (vocals) and Will Sharp (violin) who both offered a real touch of class to the proceedings.

We thank all the 'extras' who joined the orchestra in the day to support us create that real Proms feeling. Also to the teams at The Pheonix and The Shed who make it all possible and are great to work with.

We are pleased to announce that we will once again be joined by Will Sharps and Louisa Hunter-Bradley for our Bordon Prom after their success last year. Will, from Bordon, now studying in Winchester is a violinist and Louisa is a classical singer. We are excited to have them back to support our 'West End Wonders'.

A Night at the Proms returns to The Town Park at The Shed for another spectacular open-air evening – and this year we’re heading straight to the bright lights of the West End.
Join us for a rousing night of music celebrating the magic of musical theatre and iconic stage and screen scores. This year’s programme features favourites from the West End– alongside those unmissable Proms classics to close the night in style.
Pack a picnic and a jug of Pimm’s, and gather your nearest and dearest for an uplifting summer evening of music under the open sky. A joyful community celebration and a night to remember! ??

The orchestra is celebrating the news that Alessandro Vazzana, our Clarion player, will be the guest soloist at the BBC Proms in Bristol on the 9th August with the National Open Youth Orchestra and the BBC National Orchestra of Wales.

Great to announce that we will be playing our first concert with new Musical Director, Sam Hairsine, on the 25th April at the Alton Maltings. This will include Schubert's Unfinished Symphony, Bizet, Fauré and more.

We are pleased to share that we start 2026 with the appointment of Sam Hairsine as our new Musical Director.
Sam Hairsine is a Staff Officer and Director of Music in the Royal Marines. He has conducted a range of professional military bands, as well as choirs, top brass bands, amateur ensembles, and been the Musical Director of a Championship Section brass band. Sam has worked closely with leading UK composers and world-class performers, has a passion for engaging students at all levels, and enjoys working in any genre.
We thank Chris Gardner for his many years of service. David Budd remains as Assistant Conductor.
